What is Fiber to the Premise, FTTP?

Fiber to the Premise or FTTP  means the optical fiber network runs to a premise. For more details on the network, see FTTH.  Withe premise is meant a customer premise, without exactly specifying where the cable stops.  In general 2 forms of FTTP networks are being deployed:

-  Fiber to the Home (FTTH), the optical fiber delivery is all the way to the consumer’s living or office space.

- Fiber to the Building (FTTB) the optical fiber delivery  reaches the building of a consumer, but not necessarily reaches the actual space where the end user is located. This could be e.g. a central cabinet in the basement of a multistory building. Final signal develiry is done via a traditional cable, like e.g. a copper a coaxial cable.

For more information on the actual network, see FTTH.
